‘The Ethics of Disruptive Technologies’ – Conference organized by 4TU Center for Ethics and Technology

Several members of the “Design for changing values” research team will present their work at the ‘Ethics of Disruptive Technologies’ Conference, organized by 4TU Center for Ethics and Technology on November 7-8 at Eindhoven University of Technology.

4TU Center for Ethics and Technology is organizing a bi-annual conference ‘Ethics of Disruptive Technologies’ on November 7-8 at Eindhoven University of Technology. Five members of the “Design for changing values” project will be presenting their research at the conference. Prof.ir. Ibo van de Poel together with dr. Olya Kudina will present their joint paper on pragmatist account of value change. Joost Alleblas is going to present a historical account of radical value change focusing on the case of early electrification in Europe (Paris and Berlin). Tom Coggins will be presenting his analysis of Roomba-900 (robot vacuum cleaner) in the light of users’ perception of technologies which may cause a reassessment of their understanding of informational privacy. Anna Melnyk is going to present a critical reflection on the static account of value that is underlying Value Sensitive Design scholarship in the context of the energy transition.
